keep copies of the ozwcache file

Post by Gravityz »

most people know that the ozwcache file is used to cache all the current zwave devices.

since the 2020.1 and 2020.2 build there have been a lot of changes regarding zwave and they can create problems.

I have for one problems with devices not keeping their group settings(devices are not added to group 1 anymore)
for that purpose i always keep a couple of backup copies of the ozwcache file which i label GOOD.

today i upgrades my synology to 6.2.3 and rebooted.
turned out domoticz did not like it and zwave was not working properly.
looking at the ozwcache file i noticed that it had changed in size a lot.

i removed the old file, copied the GOOD file back, started domoticz and all was good again.

now i really do not know why the file had changed because normally it does not change anything unless you delete the file so it can be rebuiled.
mybe the upgrade of dsm triggered something

so my advice, always keep copies of the ozwcache file in case an upgrade(synology or domoticz) kills your setup

I totally agree.
I do a backup of domoticz.db every 5 minutes and a backup of the ozwcache*.xml every hour. Just incase. ;)
