Jadahl repo, difference between versions

Post by balosa »

Hi all,

I am quite new to all of this, I've searched but haven't found the answer I am looking for so created this new thread.
I found the jadahl versions are quite popular so I want to install one of those, but I haven't got a clue to which version to install.
Can anyone tell me the difference between the packages ?

Situation :
I want to manualy intall a package to my Synology DS416play
On Jadahl website below packages are offered, but which one to choose, what is the difference between them ?

Downloads:

Domoticz Stable 2020.1 for DSM 6.2
Domoticz Stable 2020.1 for DSM 6.2 with Python

Domoticz Stable V4.10717 for DSM 6.2
Domoticz Stable V4.10717 for DSM 6.2 with Python

Domoticz 2020.1 Beta for DSM 6.2
Domoticz 2020.1 Beta for DSM 6.2 with Python

Thanks in advance

Long story short...

Domoticz 2020.2 is the latest stable version, but it probably won't be available soon due to Jadahl being very busy with other things. If it's your main Domoticz server, use a stable one, not beta and I always use the Python version. Sooner or later you will start using scripts, ... and these require the Python module.

v2020.1 or V4.10717 (the stable one before 2020.1) depends on whether you will use Z-Wave devices or not as V4.10717 sounds to be more stable for that than 2020.1

My recommendation for you:
Domoticz Stable 2020.1 for DSM 6.2 with Python
or
Domoticz Stable V4.10717 for DSM 6.2 with Python

Blockly-, Lua- or dzVents scripts do not require the Python module.
Debian buster, bullseye on RPI-4, Intel NUC.
dz Beta, Z-Wave, RFLink, RFXtrx433e, P1, Youless, Hue, Yeelight, Xiaomi, MQTT

I would go for Domoticz Stable 2020.1 for DSM 6.2.
Python is also not needed for pass2php.
Guess you need to figure out for yourself if you ever gonna need Python.

That made me think why I always used the Python incl. version, but I need it for the Denon plugin :D

I use pass2php for my Denon receiver so I don’t need python.
