Custom Jung/Ikea zigbee remote control

Because my 2 year old son always ran off with the Ikea remote control. And the original is not really nice to see, I made something myself.

The original Ikea remote control

The demolished Ikea remote control

Self designed pcb's, ordered in China

The zigbee module from the Ikea remote control soldered to my own pcb

The pcb mounted on a Jung pulse switch (type 535EU)

With protective cap

Removed the original switch and connected the phase wire and switching wire together

The end result

Well done. It is a pity that Jung doesn't sell devices like this themselves. It sounds like a good business model since people might make switches completely remotely operated, leaving Jung completely out of business.

Nice job!!
Want to do something like this for the new ikea dimmer and the full button pulse switch (533EU?).
https://www.ikea.com/nl/nl/p/tradfri-dr ... -70408595/
I already disambled the switch
Do you have tips? Can you/we make a pcb for this?

The advantage of the Ikea remote control that I use is that the complicated components such as the processor and the zigbee antenna are combined in a single module. You can then re-use that module on your own PCB. So you have a relatively simple PCB design with the module and some resistors, capacitors and a battery holder.
With the remote control you use, all components are on the same PCB, making a self-designed PCB with a different form factor a lot more complicated (especially because of the zigbee antenna). The easiest is to simply use the existing remote control behind the wall switch. And then solder a few wires to the switches on the remote control. Connect those wires to the wall switch, which is actually parallel to the switches on the remote control.

This is what I've done and it is working! I'm using the '
multi impulsdrukker' from Jung for this.

Hi,
You did excellent job with this PCB. Is there any possibility that you share project?
Thank you in advance.
