Aeotec USB Z-Stick - Z-Wave Plus - Raspberry 4 - states version but still red setup button (yes, I'm using a usb hub)

Post by TonyK »

Ok, I'm really trying hard to get this to work...but pfffew, nothing seems to go as planned...

So for my open-Zwave status I have this:

OpenZWave USB
Version: 1.6-1033-g3661f170

With a RED setup button, I tried various USB ports, but this is the least troublesome...

Log says: Error: OpenZWave: Type_Notification, NodeID not found internally!. HomeID: 0, NodeID: 255 (0xff)

Please help! (or do I just need another USB 2.0 hub?)

I have encountered the same problem. Also after it worked I could loose the USB again after a few hours.
This solved my problems: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/PersistentUSBDevices

I got the new usb 2.0 hub (which a user verified as working with the Aeotec stick) but still no go. I also did the 'PersistentUSBDevices', still red setup and no devices...

Status: OpenZWave: User Alert - Manufacturer_specific.xml out of Date
Status: OpenZWave: ManufacturerSpecificDB Ready
Error: OpenZWave: Type_Notification, NodeID not found internally!. HomeID: 0, NodeID: 255 (0xff)

Did some further testing:

above was with ACM0

with AMA0 I get:

Status: OpenZWave: using config in: /home/pi/domoticz/Config/
Status: OpenZWave: Starting...
Status: OpenZWave: Version: 1.6-1033-g3661f170
Status: OpenZWave: User Alert - Manufacturer_specific.xml out of Date
Status: OpenZWave: ManufacturerSpecificDB Ready
Error: OpenZWave: Driver Failed!!

Btw do I need to also fill in the USB Hub in PersistentUSBDevices?

Btw 2, this is my list:

Did your stick ever worked on a different Pi? Maybe your stick is just broken...
Your Pi does see it.

Ok, I finally got it working...here's what I did:

-add external power to the USB 2.0 hub
-reset Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 stick
-removed hardware (from hardware list)
-redid the PersistentUSBDevices (I did this before, but before a restart of the system I did empty out the rules, and added them again after the reboot)
-restart
-goto Hardware section of Domoticz
-add Open Z-wave, with the port assigned with the PersistentUSBDevices method! *apparently I missed that step...the port was now called: /dev/ttyUSB-ZStick-5G
-then click on red setup button
-finally see the entry there...hit back button
-Yeah...the setup button is now blue!!

Thnx Ronaldbro for pointing me in the right direction! *not sure if the external power also added to the solution...

Ah, you got a powered hub. Didn’t know that. A powered hub always needs external power, it doesn’t get power from the host usb.
Good that it works. Enjoy your zwave :)
