Zigate and Aqara devices not connecting to router

I have a RPi running Domoticz v4.11641, Zigate 031a, multiple Aqara temperature sensors and a Samsung SmartThings Smart Plug.

I have registered all of my ZigBee sensors with the Zigate and these are all working as expected. However, due to thick walls in my house I sometimes lose connectivity between the Zigate and the Aqara sensors.

My solution was to get a simple router device (the Samsung SmartThings Smart Plug which I am able to switch on and off through Domotics) and get the Aqara sensors to route their traffic through the Smart Plug to the Zigate.

However, I am unable to get the Aqara sensors to link to the router. I have tried switching the Zigate off and placing the sensors very close to the Smart Plug to force a connection but this has not worked.

What am I doing wrong and is there a solution?

My thanks in advance for your help.
John

You are not doing anything wrong, you cannot really influence the routing mechanism.

1/ make sure your system is stable in the time.
2/ check that your smart plug is part of the mesh network. You can use the web admin Network Topology for that

Thanks for your very quick reply.

1) The system is stable and has been running for 24 hours without interruption.
2) The smart plug is definitely on the mesh network and two of the Aqara sensors are within 20cm of the plug:

So just wait days, but usually end devices preferred to get connected directly to the controller
