Nexus 7 battery drain

Post by unclekoen »

I’ve got an old Nexus 7 (2012, 1st generation, Android 5.1.1) tablet from a friend off mine.

It used to be great. After i updated Dashticz with an Open Weather Map block it draines the battery slowly. When leaving the Open Weather Map, the battery is charging slowly.

Screen brightness is at it’s lowest.
Background is a very dark image.
Deleted all possible apps, its only Chrome and Play Store running.
Hard factory reset (which maked a lot faster).
Got an 2 Amp charger.

Quick test, if it is just the Android screen it charges, if it is Chrome (with Dashticz and OWM) it drains.

What is it with OWM? Does it check every second for an update?

What would be a simple solution? Before i will root the Nexus 7 and wipe all apps i don’t need to use.

It might be caused by the dynamic weather icons.
Try setting the following parameter:

config['static_weathericons'] = true
