Support needed Dimmer with multiple relays

Hey everyone,

Need some help here getting something very cool done.
I have a RPi and a 8 relay extension board mounted to this via GPIO ports.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to have a slider/dimmer in place. All works fine with a python script so switch things off and on.
But what im trying to do here is when I have the dimmer in place the 8 relays will switch on based on the amount of dimmer sliding.
This way 8 devices will switch on based on the % of dimmer on or off..

is there any way to do this? Its very much appreciated to get some help on this :-)

It sounds like you want a relay to dim? But,

Relays by their nature are only switches, either:
1) full on; or
2) full off
No possibility of another state or in-between state.

You need another electrical device, not a relay to perform dimming. Also, you should be aware that your options for dimming are based on ac or dc, and the current draw you plan to dim. A relay can't even be used to control your dimmer. The relay board needs to go.

Possible solutions include arduino based dimmer boards for $8 off ebay.

Hey Sparky,

Sorry, I think I didn't make myself very clear on this.
I just want the relays to switch on or off when the dimmer/slider reaches a certain percentage of the bar to switch on or off.
So no dimmer function on this. Just on and off.

Maybe something in dzvents like of between 0-1% all of, between 1-8% relay 1 om, rest off, etc etc
