Next week the zigate-pi will be launched. I was wondering if it is possible to use it as an alternative for the zigate wifi module to combine it with a pi zero W.
The zigate-pi must be accessible through USB tty for an external domoticz client.
Maybe you guys heave ideas around the configuration for this?

The Pi-Zigate is indeed accessible through a tty port as the USB Zigate.
The firmware is the same.
So indeed this will be compatible with the plugin.

There are some integration to be done to get it smarter as firmware update ... but it works already if you are ready to type some gpio command first .

You must run on raspbian. I tried with fedora 29 but don’t have access to wirePi

Oke, but what I want to know is if you can use the zigate-pi combined with a pi zero w like if it is a zigate combined with WiFi module. Without using the domoticz and the plugin on the pi zero. Only put IP and portnumber in the plugin of main pi to connect to pi zigate.

Recapitulate: use it as an alternative for zigate with WiFi module.

But what is going to do the communication between Wifi and Pi-Zigate ? So I'm afraid without developing a layer doing this job, I don't think it will do what you want .
