I have been trying to log the data from an Owl energy monitor (CMR119A) but can't find any documentation to explain how to do it within Domoticz.
Ca anyone point me in the right direction or tell me how?
I can't figure out how to get it into my devices list.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

First thing to do is check that it is compatible with the RFXTRX 433 -
http://www.rfxcom.com/Documents/RFXtrx% ... 0Guide.pdf - "OWL CM113, CM180, CM119, CM160, CM180, CM180i" - is your Owl compatible with these?
If your Owl is compatible and near enough to be recieved, it will show up under Setup / Devices / Unused, with a white arrow in a green circle which if you click on it will add the Owl energy meter to the Utility page.

Hi Simon,
Many thanks for your response, it helped clarify some confusion and put me in the right direction.
I hadn't realised that with the RFXtrx433 connected to Domoticz, the RFXtrx automatically detects any device it picks up transmitting on 433MHz and passes it on the Domoticz to attempt to make sense of it.
Having started with setting up ON/OFF switches I assumed all devices had to be set up manually and didn't realise anything transmitting would potentially be installed automatically.
Armed with that info I still couldn't get the RFXtrx to pick up the Owl transmitter, even when they were very close to each other. I then figured out that the amber LED on the RFXtrx only lights when it decodes a data packet that it understands - it's not indicating that it has detected something transmitting. I assumed that because the LED had not lit then the Owl and the RFXtrx were not on the same frequency or similar.
Having trolled through yet more posts i realised i didn't have the correct protocol enabled on the RFXtrx.
Having identified that the Owl uses the Oregon Scientific protocol, as soon as i enabled that protocol on the RFXtrx and set the Owl transmitter to transmit in test mode (frequently) the amber LED light up on the RFXtrx and the device appeared in Domoticz.
All sorted
Thanks again Simon for taking the trouble to respond.

Glad all sorted and nice write up of your learning process, I had overlooked the protocols, it should be in FAQ on the wiki if it isn't already.
