British Gas Smart Meters

Hi all,
Has anyone managed to work out if it is possible to connect to the British Gas Smart Meters? https://www.britishgas.co.uk/smart-home ... lsrc=aw.ds
I have an Owl monitor which I'm using with Domoticz for monitoring electiricty usage - this gives slight differences in readings than the Smart Meter - particularly at low levels of usage under 300 watts.
But I'd love to get my gas usage, and of course the direct readings for electricity straight from the meter rather than the Owl.
My understanding is that the remote unit connects to the Smart meter via Bluetooth, but I've not been able to find a way to connect at all using anything - let alone Domoticz.
Has anyone done any investigation? In understand that my meter is a SMETS 1 version, not the newer SMETS 2 - if that makes any difference!
