Dear all.

I did buy servel camera's in China to try..
Only i cannot get them working..
So i hope we can start a topic where working WIFI [IP] camera's are displayed.. I start with a few i found in china and do have a Full HD option.

If the weather can get to them you are correct.
Luckily mine is dry at the front door, i hope i will survive the winter but they are cheap enough to get a new one.
The sd cart in it is more expensive then the camera

I never liked the ET phone home aspect in most camera's so built my own using a pi0, a Chinese lense that auto switches on dark/light and motioneye. Works really nice with motioneye server... You do need a 3d printer for the enclosure (I built I've and posted it on thingiverse) which is another €200 at AliExpress...

Standard hcsr501 with espeasy. Works without any issues but I only use it for switching on my study power...

You do not have to use the china server
And when you use the hack it is working fine in domoticz

With the normal fang hacks i could not get it connected then i did find this one:

Sorry, missed the first bit. I have had a couple of Chinese cameras and they all (tried to) connect to Chinese servers. I did close my router bit in the end it was too much hassle + I have more control over my own cams.

I tried DAHUA Wifi cams and they also work just fine

And they are not working with a chinese server?
So the data/pictures have shared with the chines MI7?

I don't know if I am allowed to share links in the forum but I bought several:
DH 3MP HD Wi-fi IR Mini Dome Camera IPC-HDBW1320E-W

I don't use Easy4IP setup feature (DISABLE it) but just connect it to my lan via the cable.
- Update the firmware if necessary
- Setup the wifi.
- Disconnect the LAN cable
- Continue on Wifi
- Disable all unnecessary services.

I did not notice the camera trying to connect the Chinese MI7, and I monitor that.
However I've seen many camera's that do try this for some reason.
Block outgoing WAN traffic for that device would be the solution!

Even better put all your IOT stuff in a separate VLAN. And block VLAN -> WAN traffic.
I just followed a guide I found on reddit.

At the moment i use Pi-hole to block all outgoing traffic to some servers in China, if that is the main concern

Thanks for clarifying, Good call indeed.
I had a look at my notes. In that specific case Pi-Hole was configured as DNS blocker for advertisements.
Not all traffic went through the Pi-Hole due to performance issues.
In addition the camera's did not use a DNS request to resolve a host IP, they just went directly to an outside IP somewhere in Shenzen China. -> Firewall need to block it.

So, my advise keep a close eye on the actual traffic. and use a mitigation / blocking strategy accordingly.

Useful information on cams would also be about a standard configuration process availability as more and more cams just cannot be configured from a web browser but a phone or even PC (like new or upgraded Foscam that used to be good choice for home use but are IMO no more: Just now cannot do anything from a browser, even just logging, if their "plugin" hiding an "application in browser" is not installed. As it's an exe, Linux users are stuck) application.

Problem: Everyone does not have an up to date smartphone or a windows PC (Linux/Mac users...)... and whatever the system hosting the config application, when the camera will be out of support the application will not be updated anymore to follow operating systems evolution and may not work if your camera must be factory reset after an hang in 2 or 3 years.

Some browser plugin were already a pain (especially activex based that's windows only) that should no more be needed for video since html5... and if plugin model change (hello Firefox after v60 that ruined most of them!), you're stuck as well.

So, configuration options info should be nice to have, for instance in such format:

- PC: Web browser info (name/version+plugin needed if applicable ; what can be done without plugin install & what require plugin: Configuring detection zones often use some for instance while everything else may not) / App only.

-Smartphones: OS+version, info or access rights that must be granted (an IP cam that requires info that are unrelated to video displaying must be considered suspicious) for the app to work...

This has to be configured within your router.
