Mesh WiFi Products and Z-Wave

Hi all,

i was going thru the new Mesh Wifi products like Linksys Velop, Google Wifi, TP-Link Deco etc. The idea is to make more stable and reachable Wi-Fi network around the house by creating a mesh Wi-Fi, just like what Z-Wave already has. And also, as i see some of these products have Zigbee support like TP-Link Deco M9. I was wondering if there are any products which also supports Z-Wave; if i am going to create a mesh Wi-Fi in my house i better want it to support ZWave and Zigbee also, so 3 birds with one stone...

And also, is there anyone who already uses these products? I still can't get the idea of what is different than using a low end custom firmware bridge router? I do have a main dsl modem-router and 2 cable connected DD-WRT bridges which i use for replicating the same SSID for my wifi. What does mesh wi-fi offers more than this??

mh..
don't mess wireless communication with WiFi....

Wireless (like zWave and zigbee) works on 868Mhz, while WiFi uses 2.5Ghz
devices will be UNABLE to see each other, you will have a controller that will connect all protocols and will take decisions and actions.
More..
zWave needs a gateway to perform communication within its network

I do use zWave and 433Mhz and some WiFi NodeMCU, Domoticz handles all of them with no problem at all!

I know that quite well; what i meant was this mesh wi-fi products can be used as a mesh node or controller for zwave and zigbee also. As you can see in TP-Link Deco M9 Plus (https://www.tp-link.com/en/products/det ... ifications) it has IEEE 802.11 ac/n/a 5 GHz, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 4.2 and ZigBee HA1.2 all included, so you can also use with

Code: Select all

https://www.tp-link.com/en/Deco-M9-Plus/compatibility/
IoT devices. As the explanation goes:

TP-Link M9 Plus, The Smart Hub of Your Home

Deco M9 Plus acts as a smart home hub, bringing all your products together in one easy-to-use app. Set interactions between Zigbee, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices. With Deco M9 Plus, enjoy the magic of the smart home in every room.

just like Samsung Smart things hub which also has ZWave included. The difference is that these products' main purpose is wifi mesh and IoT protocols are added value...

that looks to be a great gateway....
willing to know a bit better about how open is it in using the connected device or if it works as a closed cloud with its application....

Zigbee is something I still have to discover :P :P
