Domoticz version 4.9700 - automatic backup filling up disk space
Posted: Friday 31 August 2018 19:44
Version: 4.9700
Platform: Raspberry Pi 2B
Plugin/Hardware: AEOTEC USB Zwave
Description: automatic backup filling up disk space
I did check the 4.9700 release notes and some of the forum entries with 'backup' in the title but couldn't find this mentioned anywhere.
I just upgraded my system - from the previous stable - and did not change anything.
Because i monitor the disk space of the domoticz system and show that in domoticz i noticed that my disk space was filling up.
The first week i only looked at it briefly but the free space kept on going down.
So i used 'du' to make a daily snap and found the culprit was the automatic backup of domoticz.
Apparently the filename of the backup files changed so the hourly and daily created new filenames and leaving the old files there.
Hourly e.g.:
- old filename : backup-hour-07.db
- new filename : backup-hour-07-Domoticz.db
Daily e.g.:
- old : backup-day-07.db
- new : backup-day-07-Domoticz.db
Deleted the old ones and now the disk space is good again and i only have to wait for the daily backup files to come to 31 and disk space should level out.
So if you have a similar issue of 'where is my disk space going', check to see the domoticz backup subfolders for old files.
