P1 Smart Meter with LAN Interface

I am developing a P1 smart meter based on the esp8266 wifi platform. I would like to connect to my P1 meter using LAN. I see that Domoticz offers integration with "P1 Smart Meters with LAN Interface". My question is, what do I have to implement on my esp8266 platform to be able to connect my P1 meter over LAN? Is there a specific protocol that is required?

I have tried to start a TCP server on a certain port, which prints out P1 telegrams, but that did not work. Could someone point me in the right direction?

So I tried EasyESP and the results are the same. I get the following error message:

2018-03-23 21:34:30.256 Error: P1 hardware (11) thread seems to have ended unexpectedly

If I telnet to the LAN interface, I get my data without problems. Why is the error very vague? How do I find the root cause?

Apparently the EasyESP project did not support the latest standard, I have added the support and now it works :)
