Hi all,
sorry if this is a dumb question but take it as from a noob please..
Regarding domoticz presence using ibeacon(ish), should i mark the server (ubuntu) as a beacon or the smartphone itself (I do not have a beacon just i am supposing i can install a software to make the server or iphone as an ibeacon)? Is it possible for the iphone to be the ibeacon (even when it is in locked mode)? Or should i definitely need an ibeacon or eddystone beacon? Or the presence has got nothing to do with beacons but only BLE?
Thanks in advance...

Re: A question about ibeacons
There are lots of presence scripts in the forums so not sure which one you mean. A Bluetooth device is pingable if you know its MAC (no pairing required) and so no need for a beacon as such. The BT radio in the pi just pings the phone from time to time and if it's alive then assumes it's within range so present. Does that help?
