experience with the OTGW from NODO-shop?

Does anybody have any experience with the version of the OTGW from nodo-shop?
It is based on the design of the PCB of the original OTGW, and it uses the same software. It is just a bit smaller, and it looks like it requires less soldering to assemble it.
Is there anybody here that uses this version, or does everybody use the original PCB from otgw.tclcode.com?

Nobody that has any experience with this product? I had some other things going on, so I didn't pay this any attention lately, but I'm still curious about any experience some of you might have with this version of the OTGW.

I've been using the OTGW from Nodo for a while now. What I like in comparison with the orginial PCB is it has support for an ESP8266 instead just USB. Plus it uses an external power supply.
What can I say... What do you guys want to know? I've been happy using it so far.

The main thing for me is if it works correctly, and in the same way as the original OTGW.
I'd also be curious if someone made one with an ethernet-port. They are designed to include a Wifi-module, but I don't know about ethernet.
The thing is, my boiler will be replaced in the near future (no planning yet, but let's say within half a year or so). My current one is not compatible with OpenTherm, but the next one will be. I'm orientating myself on the possibilities
Thanks for sharing!

My boiler is an Intergas Kombi Kompakt HRE 28/24 with an Honeywell Chronotherm Modulation CMT937 thermostat. The features mentioned on otgw website are working. The only thing i noticed is that the return water temperature list 0 celcius while the thermostat does show an correct temperature. I haven't bothered finding out why and/or which MsgID, maybe for later....
I mainly use Domoticz as logging and graphs. But changing the temperature is fun. The thermostat shows an telephone icon when the temperature is changed (icon = something else than the thermostat changed the temperature). This gets overriden again once the next schedule on the thermostat kicks in. Set temperature from the OTGW shows OK on the thermostat, and vica versa too.
I havent bought this to change temperature's and whatever more, but just using it as an logging device, but I am happy that it works as intended.

For those wondering: I've mailed Nodo-shop with the question if their version of the OTGW can be connected with an ethernetcable instead of Wifi, and they responded that it cannot. The only way is Wifi or USB. Since my boiler is located on my attic, and the RPi thats running Domoitcz is in my living room, these methods are not going to work...
I guess I'll have to delve deeper in the original OTGW. I know there are people that have connected it with an ethernet-cable, but I haven't been able to find a description of how to do that, that is descriptive enough for me to follow.
The search continues.

why wouldn't it work? just got my OTGW from nodo, my rpi is downstairs and i mounted the otgw next to the boiler in my attic wih the wifi option (nodemcu) its easy to connect true wifi

In my case this is not going to work. My Wifi-coverage is hindered by the floors in my house. I can use Wifi on the first floor, but not when I'm in the attic. Not that I need internet when I'm there, but the signal just doesn't reach all the way up there.

hi guys,
Today i installed the unit and my first experience is very positive. personally i love the wifi solution. due to the wifi solution i can mount the unit next to the boiler on the attic ( my domoticz system is on the first floor)
in this post i found out that people had some issues with the return temperature displays 0. I had the same issues. after reading some forums i found out the issue is my isense thermostats. the thermostat doesn't log the temperature. When you want to have the return temperature you need to do the following steps :
# start to otmonitor.exe
# enter settings
# go to miscellanious
# enter AA=28 in the command windown & press SEND
# press done & go to the log window
# you will see the command stream by
# if you now are patient for a minute or so you will see the retrun water entry getting updated
The interval is a bit high so it may need a little time to get populated. You can also look at the statistics screen for the value.
tomorrow first days of christmas to a great time to play with my new system hahaha. happy holidays.

Sending OT commands can also be done from domoticz. Go to the hardware section and go into the otgw hardware. There you will find both the option to select whatever temperature sensor in domoticz to act as a outside sensor for your thermostat (I use a weatherunderground station down the street for that) as well as the option to send OT commands

hi all,
Im getting an error with the otgw...
2017-12-25 11:48:56.895 OTGW: Using serial port: /dev/ttyUSB0
2017-12-25 11:48:57.973 Error: OTGW: Error received!
After this domoticz hangs till i remove the usb cable..
It is a new otgw from nodo shop...
Someone has an idea?
I have a intergas 36/30 hre eco and a remeha isense (v30) for the weather dependent heating..
Thanks.
Merry christmas days

A maybe I don't quite understand your question.
If you can connect USB. You can connect to it over the LAN with Ser2Net.
Connect it to a wired LAN device say RPI, TP-LINK that has a USB and use Ser2Net to open it op for Domoticz to have access to it.
I guess you want to use it that way? But I guess you want to use it in a different way right?

In the ideal situation I'd like to add a LAN-port on the OTGW itself, so there are no other devices. A bit like what Thinkpad did (
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8505). That way there would be no need for an extra RPi or anything.
I had hoped that instead of the Wifi-module it would have been possible to use some kind of Ethernet-adapter, but as stated Nodo-shop answered me that that is not possible. I think I will have to look further into the method used by Thinkpad. I don't know how to make the connections on the PCB exactly at this moment, but my goal is to have something like that.

Nice goal indeed. As the requested modification also requires upgrade of powersupply of OTGW i went the easy way with:
TP-LINK 70x solution & ser2net. It is an extra device indeed. However All is powered from a usb hub that is in the neighbourhood.

If you use the original pcb and component from the otgw site, and want to add the ethernet port, using an ethernet to serial adapter, you just need to replace the transformer with a more powerfull one and replace the 7805.
I've done it 2 years ago and still working like a charm.
Components used:

And some ethernet to serial converter, eg:

Merry Xmas. That easy.
I now have a spare TPlink
And everything nice in 1 box. Cewl
Wiring instructions available? Or shall I try the old Google trick
Already have the gateway modified a bit with led and connectors.
This would be a nice addition.

Just like sincze, I am curious if can you provide information on how everything is wired up? Where do you connect the pins on the TCP232 on the PCB?

Unfortunately I'm not at home. But you should be able to find some information on the opentherm gateway forum.
It should not be hard though. Just connect tx and rx with rx and tx
. And ground and +5V.
Just note that the transformer is larger, so it might not fit in a standard box.

The problem with searching for it is that I get mixed suggestions. For example, some say you have to remove the rs232-chip, some say you don't. And from what points do you get 5V and GND: directly from the transformator or somewhere else along the line.
Of course, I could be looking in the wrong forums, but I haven't been able to find a description anywhere on internet where someone states exactly on which points of the PCB this is connected. It never goes beyond the statement that it works, which is of course also very important information
.
If you can find some time to explain what connection-points you used, that would be really great!
