Starting fresh

Hi all,
I'm going to exclude all my nodes (mixture of gen5/pre gen5 and battery/mains devices).
I'm then going to start a fresh installation of domoticz to get as a stable z-wave system as possible - a bit over dramatic i know.
I've struggled with latency for while now and now the season is turning colder, i really do need a network that has little latency due to the way it controls my heating system, it's pretty critical that the latency is low.

Anyway, i have about 70 nodes, lights relays, relays, PIR's, thermostat's and door sensors.

What the best way to re-include them? I'm thinking all light relays as they are mains powered and scattered through out the house (every room has one), that will give me a good mesh to start off with.

Also, one big question, to keep latency to a minimum and range to a maximum, i was not going to bother including pre-gen5 nodes that are powered.
Can you see my logic with that?
I'm still tempted to include pre-gen5 battery PIR/door sensors as they don't repeat signals, but keeping a all gen5 mains network SHOULD keep the gen5 capability in the network, yes?

Is my theory correct?
