Remodel forum (to Gizmocuz)

Post by fantom »

Hi

I think, that actually forum is too big and hard to find topics.
I have one proposal: to existing forum add one group "Hardware" with subforums for all modules (1wire, AccuWeather, Arilux, Atax .... and moooore).
And all problems, bugs, to-do, development etc users can direct to this subforums. Users will know where to write, and developers will know where to read posts about their modules. It will also be easier to catch duplicates.
It will take care of the rest of subforums (much less mixed posts).
I'm the author of 5 modules, but I'm not able to break through all the subforums to find what may concern me :(

ps. Maybe new one or two admins need, who will be able to move or delete abnormally placed post.

I think you have an point!.

But domoticz supports lot's of hardware! so it must be grouped. and another problem: the topics in bugs/ general etc must be moved in the right fora..
I created 2 new subfora: for voice systems, and Zigbee. I will look futher for options to clean! and help is welcome.

You don't need admins for this, just some moderators. I agree with your post though.

I know, that domoticz has many of hardware, but i think, that grouping will not work. User still will not be able to find good group. Many user don't know whats mean "zigbee" etc but know that they use 1wire, xioami gate, etc.
I thnik, that all rows from existsing hardware must have own group.
And "bugs and problem" should be connected with "Hardware and protocols". Now user write sometimes here and sometimes there. I do not know which group to use.
Please, group it somehow ;)

Yes. Moderator is good idea. But forum must have better group structure, than it is now

Its not going to happen... we already have a hardware forum, with sub hardware ... users are still reporting in the general reporting forum
There should be a general reporting forum section for questions that do not fit somewhere else

But please propose a whole forum layout.. but maybe better to create a temp. channel on slack as this should be in a moderator sub-forum

But hardware forum has only a few hardwares - not all. That's why users all report to "general" or "bugs and problems"
Bugs and problems has 12 000 posts
General has 3 000 posts
Bugs and problems is too big. Please move subforums from "hardware" to "bugs and problems" and add all rest hardwares (I know - many). And delete "hardware" forum. This is first step. Separate bugs and problems from the rest of forums.

I am asking you to separate at least "1wire" and "Satel Integra"
