P1 smart Meter: Gas value readout stays zero

Hi all,
Today I connected my Pi with my smart meter at home, a KFM5KAIFA-METER
Used Domoticz version: V3.7113 Build Hash: a4a6b18 Build Date: 2017-03-23 11:07:58
Readout of the voltage and power usage works like a charm, but the gas usage value stays at zero.
Now I have been google-ing and doing some further investigation and found that the OBIS codes for my meter for Gas is different in the telegram then Domiticz is expecting.
Using ctrl-f on the Domiticz folder, I found in the compiled version (domoticz.exe) it expects eigher:
Code: Select all
0-1:24.2.1 0-2:24.2.1 0-2:24.3.0 gasusage
But in the CU readout on my Pi, the telegram mentions:
Code: Select all
0-3:24.1.0(003)
0-3:96.1.0(sn meter redacted)
0-3:24.2.1(170323210000W)(00065.583*m3)
Now, I can adjust it and compile myself, but I have no idea where to start
Is anyone able to help out and add the 0-3:24.2.1 as a location to read-out the gas usage? Thanks!

Hi all,
Anyone an idea? Or is this the wrong place to post? Could otherwise a moderator move the thread to the Bug report thread?!
Thanks!

*bump*
No one who can help me with this?

Well, that was a nice fix gordonb3. Confirmed and working after I switched to the development branch.
Saves me a lot of figuring out how to cross compile, etc

Hello. New user here. Very impressed with Domoticz so far
Just had my new smart meters installed yesterday, and have a Raspberry PI connected running Domoticz as slave to another RPI.
Both were on stable version 3.5877. Smart meter was recognized and Energy and Gas were available as hardware using the P1 Smart Meter USB hardware.
Energy works fine so far, but Gas readings remain zero as above.
Updating to beta version 3.7412 made 3 voltages available, but so far the Gas readings remain at zero.
Smart meters are Landis+Gyr SMR 5.0 for Energy and Gas.

Can you forward me a P1 datagram so I can have a look?
Met alle plezier
Just tell me how to make a 'datagram'. Suppose this isn't the same as the log under settings.

PM is okay.
Heb nog geen PM rechten. Zie ook nog geen mogelijkheid om een file mee te sturen.
Hieronder een copy van één datablok. Weet niet zeker of Gas er bij zit. Lijkt veel minder vaak te worden verzonden volgens het Log.

but AFAIK if a gas meter is connected its data should be in every datagram.
Doing some troubleshooting:
Rate limit for the Smart meter hardware set to 180 secs.
In the Log now every second data block has a Gas reading, as recognized by Domoticz apparently.
see:

Question is imo how Domoticz recognizes these Gas readings in between the other readings.
(and how to use it
)

Ok. Dead end.
Reading the "P1 Companion Standard" I understand my Gas meter is on channel 1 to the Smart meter.
So a Gas use value should look like "0-1:24.2.1(xxxxx...) ?
So far haven't seen such a code in Putty when looking at my PI with 'cat /dev/ttyUSB0'

Of course standards exist to be broken, so the fact that the datagram you posted did not contain such a line does not qualify as a conclusion, but it does look like your gas meter is not connected.
Had looked into that, but on the Energy meter the correct Gas meter number is displayed, so I assume a connection is available.
In the data block the Device type is given as "0-1:24.0.1(003)". Doesn't this indicate the channel used is 1?
Have been looking at a long list of data, but no Gas use info to be found.
Will check with my provider to see if they have a solution.
Thanks for looking into this.

Last night at 00:00 the Gas meter readings started to show up in Domoticz.
First reading of course the total use of the last 2 days
Everything seems fine now.
Every data-block now has a '0-1:24.2.1' entry with the m^3 value below the '0-1:24.0.1' device type entry.
Meter readings took ~36 hours after the installation of the meter to show up in the P1 data-block.
Thanks again for helping out.

Hi, since installation of my new gasmeter a few weeks ago readings do not show up anymore in Domoticz (for electricity no issue, that works).
In my case datagram looks like this, I do see the correct value for the gasmeter there (545.218*m3 is also shown on the meter display).
Can anyone help ?

I have the same 'error' in my setup.
Electricity shows and sums up nicely. Gas meter shows up in the logs, but readout stays at zero (0)

I had the same problem in different software. I use P1monitor on a Pi that is connected to my smart meter. After replacing the gas meter it didn't show the data anymore. In this particular software I had to change the "gas code number:" from "1" to "2". I cannot find these parameters in Domoticz, but maybe this has something to do with it.

Hi
You said you had the same error as harm1704. His topic is almost a year old and I'm not sure that it has been solved.
However if you look to the log file you see the following:
0-1:24.1.0(003)
0-1:96.1.0(4730303339303031373132323430323137)
0-1:24.2.1(180123112001W)(01173.620*m3)
This indicates that the last read-out of this gas meter, which is connected on channel 1 of the M-Bus,
has been on January 23, 2018 at 11:20:01, Wintertime. The value was 1173.620 m3.
It seems that the meter has been replaced by a new one since then:
0-2:24.1.0(003)
0-2:96.1.0(4730303332353635353437323534393137)
0-2:24.2.1(180303115504W)(00545.218*m3)
This meter is connected to the 2nd channel on the M-Bus. Last read-out was March 3, 2018 at 11:55:04, Wintertime
The value was 545.218 m3, which seems to match with the display on the gas meter.
As I don't think that 2 gas meters are installed probably Domoticz expects data from the old gas meter, which will never come.
So the output is zero.
@bord4kop: Did you get recently a new gas meter? And what is your raw data?
@mrf68: You had probably the same problem, but because the setting in P1monitor can be changed you, you could solve it.

Just a question,
It seems that in belgium also everyone will get a digital electricity meter, and i love to get some data as soon we get one BUT,
My meter will be placed in a "closed part" of our parking garage and no way i can get a USB cable to there.
Can u reach them also or view your usage on a website ?
Like from the electricity company ?
Because then i can start to figure out how to collect data from the site

Your electricity supplier might give you access to a portal and that gives you access to your energy consumption and/or delivery. But it is probably not real-time.
In The Netherlands we have also third parties that do provide information, like
https://www.slimmemeterportal.nl. It is not real-time. The disadvantage is that you give third parties access to your data.
As soon as the smart meters in Belgium are rolled out, there will be parties that jump into it and create a similar website for Belgian users.
In that case you can scrape their website and use the data the way you want.
Regards
