Domoticz

Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum and also very new to this topic. I already read here quiet some time and now I am at the point where I would like to ask some more questions.

Here is what I would like to do:
I would like to control 8 (or more) RGB LED strips that should each be connected wirelessly. I would like to control them ether with an app, windows program or browser GUI.

I read about to possibility to use MiLight 2.4 GHz receiver modules like these: http://www.ebay.at/itm/RGBW-RGB-W-MiLig ... SwLEtYf5jP which can power the RGB LED strips.

To connect to these modules I read that it is possible to use the RFLink Transceiver with the NRF24L01 2.4 Ghz module and the RFLink is then connected to Domoticz. Is this correct so far?

But now my questions starts: What exactly is RFLink? Is it a hardware that I have to buy or just a software extension for Domoticz? I also read that I have to use an Arduino mega for the RFLink?

And for the Donoticz: Do I have to have an Raspberry Pi in order to use it or can I run it solely on a windows pc?

Is it possible to build my project in this way and if yes, what other hardware/software do I need?

I am sorry that I am asking you guys these basic questions but I am really not sure how to proceed with this project.

Did you know, there is a website called Google.com.
You can search there for RFLink or Domoticz on windows.
And a lot of other questions you have.
Try it, you will be amazed.

Some more things I would like to ask:

Is the Domoticz Software programable so that I can for example play a specific sequence on how the LEDs should be turned off and on, set color and so on? Can it be programed in the way a sensor triggers the LEDs to switch on/off?

What wireless range do you think that I could expect to achieve (indoor/outdoor) using MiLight?

Is there an alternative system that is able to control RGB LEDs and maybe gives more signal range (433/868 MHz)?
