Heating optimisation [Evohome]

Hello all,

I have been using Evohome & Domoticz for a while but in separated ways. Nothing beyond the if no one at home switch off heating...

Has anyone done something a bit fancier / clever to automatically control their zone heating without having to manually override things?
Using forecast data? movement? presence?

Anything to share?

Hello,

I haven't done it yet but I was thinking of linking the heating in my bathroom to a motion sensor as it's used a bit at random times depending on the days. I have underfloor heating and a towel radiator in the bathroom so the idea is to keep the UFH at 18 for instance and to give a boost to 20 when there is motion using the radiator.

I have the heating adjust according to what time my alarm is set for in the morning . I also have a button that sets things up for my baby sons bedtime and bath routine (warms his room and bathroom) as that can vary in time.

I was thinking something a bit more exotic, like:

Target temperature 19*C but if outside weather and sunlight and wind speed > than or < than then reduce/increase target temperature by 1*C

Probably a lot of lua scripting, maybe is easier to have a side loaded module that just triggers the desired temperatures?

Hi,

I have it linked to my alarm system, alarm on, the heating goes to ECO, alarm off, it runs the heating program in Evo Home again. Also I activated the geo-fencing option in IFTTT for EvoHome. Further, if I open the doors to the garden, the heating goes off. Doors closed, heating back to the program.

Hope this gives you some additional idea's.

regards, Jeroen

Right, I have been playing with this a bit more and the challenge I have is that (at least with Evohome), the idea of multi zones sounds very good but can get also very expensive energy wise.

Basically a single radiator valve is able to demand heat to the boiler. Is there any way around it? Having the TRV working but not demanding heat? Or even better being able to set target temperature with Domoticz but inhibiting the heat demand?
