Domoticz randomly forgetting device type and ID

I have two devices: a Horstmann HRT4-ZW thermostat and a TKB TZ88E switch. The thermostat controls the switch via group 2. The devices are at the edge of the network and the network map shows the switch connected to the rest of the network but not the thermostat (even though it works). Domoticz is on the latest beta.
Just recently, I've had several occasions where one or both devices show up as Device ID 0x0000 and Type 0x0000. This has various consequences; the main one being that the Group 2 switching becomes unreliable.
Sometimes, a restart (having deleted the ozcfg_xxx.xml file) recovers the situation. In others, I've had to delete and reinstate one of the devices.
Has anybody else seen this behaviour?
