Is there anyway to connect domoticz the Remeha eTwist thermostat?
Or will it be in the near future?

https://www.remeha.nl/consument/producten/etwist.htm

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

Thanks to Tuk90 who put a lot of effort into a plugin, it is now possible to monitor/control the Remeha eTwist thermostat

They say it is OpenTherm compatible. Has to be, otherwise they could never claim that it will work with all heaters in their program.
So if you use the OTGW at this moment, you should be OK.

Having said that, I don't know how their gateway will work, there is no information available . I guess we'll have to wait for the first actual user and see how it can connect to Domoticz...

Since there is no public API available I decompiled the android APK trying to figure out how we can get the information exposed as available in the app. Simply using MITMPROXY is not working as they use certificate pinning in combination with websockets. (so no simple HTTP API)

So far I am able to retrieve gas usage but only because this is the only thing not done via websockets. Will keep you posted of my findings but so far not succcesfull in either disabling the pinning or adding the mitmproxy certificate to the app. (I am however not really an expert so still learning as I am trying to figure this one out)

Thanks. I hope that this will work in the near future. i have one since a few weeks and must say that it works very fine.

No ETA but did get confirmation from Remeha on twitter they are planning to create a public API and/or web based solution for the eTwist.

Any progress in this field? I did receive an eTwist from a friend and was in doubt to connect or not. Google still can't find the API :(

Just received a disappointing reply from the Remeha service & after sales department:
Beste Erik,

Tot op heden is er nog helemaal niks bekend over een eventuele API t.b.v de eTwist thermostaat.
Zo doende kan ik ook nog niks melden over de status hier van op dit moment.

Met vriendelijke groet / Best regards,

Freely translated: currently nothing is known about the eTwist API.

They don't give me the impression they're working on it :(

OK, so Domoticz cannot connect directly to the eTwist. But there is still the wired connection between the eTwist and the boiler.
Did anyone try to put an OTGW on that link? (OTGW = OpenTherm GateWay).
I've used it on a Remeha Calenta/iSense combination, works great.
This means the Remeha "speaks" rather pure OpenTherm, I think.

Will it work on a Remeha Tzerra/eTwist? Any experience?

If this works, it means Domoticz has access to most of the boiler settings, including room temperature setting.
What won't work is controlling the clock thermostat settings from Domoticz.

Does anyone know how "clean" the OpenTherm dialect of the eTwist is?

Hai,
I've got a Remeha Tzerra in combination with a iSenseRF / iBase.
Can this be controlled via Domoticz?
Any suggestions on how to achieve this?
Thanks!

Its compatible with opentherm, so use an opentherm gateway ?

The manual describes two types iSense:
• iSense OpenTherm
• iSense RF (wireless), in combination with iBase (basisstation) RF-zender

I have the latter, so probably no OpenTherm?

I would expect that the iBase is connected to the boiler with a wire, and that the protocol on that wire would be OpenTherm... Just guessing, but I would gamble on an OTGW unit between the boiler and the iBase. That would give you access to all OpenTherm values, but it would not touch any clock program in the thermostat.
I use an iSense myself, with an OTGW on the wire to the boiler. Whenever I go on vacation, I set the vacation program in the iSense. When I return home early, I can simple change the base temperature via Domoticz.

Hai manjh,
Thanks for this reply.
Can you tell me which OTGW you have installed?
And how you have wired it?
I'm reasonably with software but hardware...
Thanks again.

I got the OTGW from the Nodo webshop, which can be found on letscontrolit.com.
You will need the OTGW print, an Arduino Mega, and an ESP unit for WiFi access. Also a power unit and (optionally) a case to mount the unit in.

Wiring is easy: beside a ppower unit (18V, I believe), there are four screwed wire attachements: two will go to the boiler, the other two to the thermostat. Effectively the OTGW is electrically located between thermostat and boiler.
Software for the ESP unit can be downloaded there as well, and there is a good installation and configuration manual.

I just checked again with Remeha, they confirm that there is no interface available.
Pity, I am getting a new Tzerra with an eTwist thermostat next week, would have been great if the thermostat would interface directly with Domoticz.
I guess that OTGW is the only option...

OK, one step ahead.
Last week my old boiler (in my summerhome) was replaced by a new Remeha Tzerra, which came with an iSense or eTwist thermostat, I picked the eTwist.
It is connected by wire to a base unit which is mounted next to the boiler; from there a wire to the boiler.

As I understand from the guy installing the boiler, the thermostat does not "speak" OpenTherm. It was actually developed for the latest Remeha model: the Ace.
The Tzerra boiler does expect OpenTherm, and that's where the base unit (called GateWay) comes in.

Everything works just fine, thermostat can be controlled manually, or via a Remeha App on Android.

My next step will be to insert an OTGW unit between the Remeha Gateway and the boiler. That should be "clean" OpenTherm, so should work. I won't be able to change the thermostat settings, I think. There is no API available from Remeha. But the OTGW will be able to pick up status info from the boiler, and probably also be able to override temperature temporarily.

As soon as I have the OTGW I will try it an report back.
