Domoticz and raspbmc

I have a raspberry pi 2b running for over a year now with the domoticz image.
It is only logging my energy and gas consumption.

I feel that I can do a lot more with it. I am interested in using the raspberry also as a mediacenter.

Is it possible to run domoticz and raspbmc together?

If yes, how can I install that? I am pretty new with raspberry.

Do I have to install raspbmc on the existing domoticz installation?
Or do I have to install raspbmc first and add domoticz?

Are there people who have running these two together?

kodi and domoticz run very well together.

you should try it out on a separate sd card... then you can play and try out all you want!
installing domoticz: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Raspberry_Pi and meber to copy your db from the old to the new :-)
installing kodi, use a image or follow on of the many guides online... :-)

Have phun! you also might consider buying a pi zero (cheap) put your sd card in there (you can just swap um, but always backup anyway!) and use you pib2 as a mediacenter with both the standard images... saves a lot of time!

For the cost of a Pi I prefer dedicated ones. One for Kodi, one for pihole, one for....

...and eight for cameras... and one just to play with :-)

Lol, you're worse than me
I only have 3 for camera's.

But to respond on topic:
Everybody want's his Domoticz to be as fast and stable as can be. Why risk that by adding a mediaplayer wich consumes a lot of a Pi?
Not to say anything about the config.txt, mine are totally different for kodi and camera against the one for pihole. Memory settings, overclock,... name it.

Tnx you all for your replies!

It sounds good to use separate raspberrys.

Can this also be a good board for domoticz, only for monitoring the P1 energymeter?

Divide and conquers, or together we will fall,
One failed (or cpu 100%) pi, will not bring down me or the rest at all :-)

If you want to do something nice to add to your pi and play with try adding a rtc or begin your quest in mysensors land with the cheapest controller of any sensors technology (less then 1 euro :-) viewtopic.php?t=14365#p105148 or add a very advanced camera solution: viewtopic.php?t=8390#p90233

Does anybody know if I can install Domoticz on this one:

and connect it to the P1 port of my smart energy meter?

I was not correct with the version I am using at the moment: it is not a Pi 2B, but a Pi B+

I did a little test and it worked with OSMC (without Domoticz). I know it is not the most powerful of the Raspberry's, but is the B+ okay, to start with mediacenters to learn about how they work and so on, or does the B+ will have real performance issues? I am mostly interested in playing music (MP3 on a USB drive), but would also like to play with movies.

Do yourself a favor for the holidays and buy a Pi 3 for mediaplayer and let the 'old' one continue Domoticz.
I even overclocked my Pi3 to the maximum to ensure perfect playback.

:-) I went for the cheap option for some reason, but you're right pi3
