Copy one controller Stick to Another

Hello everybody,

I'm currently using the Somfy Tahoma Z-Wave stick, which is Z-Wave only, while - if I'm not mistaken - the Aeon Labs USB stick is Z-Wave plus and it seems much wider used. I also would like to exclude the possibility that the stick is the cause for some problems (like slow responses to motion sensors and, e.g., turning on lights), so I have decided to give the Aeotec stick a try.

However, if I get it right, the devices are not bound to Domoticz but to the particular Z-Wave controller. Hence, if I just take out the Somfy stick and insert the Aeotec stick, the devices are gone. Is it possible to somehow "copy" the devices associated from one controller to the other? Or do I have to manually exclude and include every single device (which is particularly going to take some time as stuff like door/window sensors were very tricky to include).

I'd be glad if there was an option to replace a z-wave stick with another without in-/excluding everything. And sorry if I didn't manage to find an answer but neither Google or the search really helped me (still possible I used wrong keywords).

in the OWCP /under Hardware and then config for the OpenZWave device) you have the option to transfer controller role

Since I never did this before I cannot guide you, but I assume that some message will appear infoming you about what to do :P
ciao

This can not be done, and has been asked multiple times to Aeotec. They can also not provide a tool to copy the config from one stick to the other
Also still one of my reasons i did not transfer yet to the new zwave+ stick

Hi,

I actually asked the question to aeotec yesterday if not only to indeed keep the migration question 'hot'. To my surprise they came back with some short of procedure based on adding a secondary stick in the network.

Here the support page they pointed to.

Hi!

Interesting. Are you going to try it out? I wonder whether it works with Aeotec sticks, only. I have one from them and one from Somfy. If it works, could you please report on it?

Thanks a lot!
