Temperature sensors - expected behaviour

I've bought some cheap temperature sensors which work great with my rfxtrx433e - except...
The first one worked flawlessly. I bought another 2 and then found that when their transmissions got into step, so sensor A was transmitting at exactly the same time as sensor B, both sensors would "disapear". They'd stay gone for hours, then one would emerge and a while later the other.
I'd originally configured them all on their "channel 3" (the sensors have channel 1,2 and 3) after reading some posts on here and hearing that apparently it worked fine. When I started getting this problem it occurred to me that I'm just getting collisions on the same frequency when they get into step with each other - and the whole point of having seperate channels was to avoid this (I guess each channel is a slightly higher frequency in the 433 band?)
So I moved the 3 sensors to each of the 3 channels and assumed I'd be fixed. But I'm not - I'm seeing the same problem.
Is this to be expected, or do I have a problem somewhere?
The sensor is Rubicson protocol - one of these http://www.banggood.com/433MHz-Wireless ... 65559.html
I've been running FW 248 since buying the rfxtrx last December. I've just upgraded to v 1009 to see if it makes a difference (though the release notes don't say anything specific about Rubicson changes).
