I use it to ping my phone but its not great at that (phone issues, not domoticz). There are some other posts elsewhere in this forum that discuss pinging your phone as a type of geofence, but phones often turn off wifi and are not very reliable for this.

I use it to ping outside servers as a network health indicator. My wife works from home. I have a blocky setup to text me if my switch that pings google server 8.8.8.8 gets a timeout. It lets me know my internet provider is having issues of if my wife company is having problems on their end. Of course a hard fault will not send if I lose internet, but my spouse will call me shortly therafter so no automation needed. If I start seeing random texts, I make sure her backup connection to work is setup and functioning.
