Error getting HE105 / HRFS1 to work on RFLink

Hi all,
Loving the RFLink on Domoticz, I started with some plugin switches (Energenie) and would now like to control my home heating. I have a Horstmann HRFS1 wireless thermostat, which I got here (some years ago):
http://www.screwfix.com/p/horstmann-hrf ... stat/93829
I cannot get RFLink to recognise it or talk to it. This is what I've done so far:
- confirmed receiver is working (can pick up other remotes)
- confirmed transmitter is working (can switch Energenie sockets)
- plugged it into a Windows machine and viewed the output on RFLoader. It doesn't show the name, but will provide the pulse details if debug is on.
- tried to detect the thermostat switching and learn it - did not work
- tried to create a manual switch with the correct unit code, type HE105. Did not work when I hit the 'test' button.
- When I created the switch manually, I get an error message pop up when I try to activate it, saying 'Error sending switch command, check device/hardware !'
I believe the receiver is the venerable HE105 - it looks identical and someone else even posted that they'd got it working with this exact unit (HRFS1).
I really want to get this working and would prefer not to have to buy a new wireless thermostat. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
