Understanding what is Domoticz

Hello,
I am not an expert in "domotic", but i have understood that Domoticz is an open software able to manage "intelligent" équipments in an electrical installation.
If i am right, my question is to understand how the communication should take place between all equipments ?
I know that there are some radio protocols, but i would like to know if there could a protocol transported by the electrical wires, what we call "CPL" in french, in order to avoid adding radio in the house, and to reuse existing cabling system.
Is it possible ? And which kind of equipments can we find to be managed ? Which vendors as example ?
Regards
Bernard

Hi Bernard

You can use KNX or MODBUS or some do it your self module working by ethernet.

You can find one in french here : http://easydomoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2521

This use a Arduino Mega + Various sensors to drive a house

A bientot ;-)

Thanks a lot and very interesting, but very complex to understand, as my goal could be to rely on CPL, i mean electricals wires, to manage the protocol, i can see the KNX which can be transported over CPL.
So one solution could be to use KNX capable equipments and manage them through Domoticz ?
Where can i find example of equipments talking KNX and the way to connect them via CPL ?

Fact is that knx is use by major compagny like hager or schneider, not easy to add to domoticz : http://www.schneider-electric.fr/fr/pro ... steme-knx/

Same thing for Modbus where we can find the same actors.

Both need professional installers.

That why zwave and other rf protocole got lot of succes, "cheap", open, easy to use.
