Just discovering z-wave groups. 1 device has no groups

Post by stuiow »

Hi all,

Just discovered by accident my z-wave network was sluggish and why i was getting
"2016-08-30 23:05:33.408 OpenZWave: Received timeout notification from HomeID: 4265177799, NodeID: 6 (0x06)"
errors very often.

Anyway, that node is now only in group 1 and my z-wave network is so much smoother now.

BUT, i have a device on my network that isn't in any groups and i am unsure how to get it into group1.
Hope this image explains that.

Anyone know how i can fix that?
Its a TKB Dimmable socket.
Cheers

That's because either the device doesn't support groups, or the device isn't well implemented in Openzwave.
This is also the case for a Danfoss LC-13 and a Horstmann ASR-ZW, but they work as expected so I don't mind.

Also, when using Domoticz I believe it's better to not use any group association at all. Just group 1 for the lifeline so the controller receives updates.
Everything else should be handled by domoticz.

I agree, i wont get ti involved witj grouping, just wanted to get everything in group 1.
Its probably why that node misses commands sent to it, mainly the switch off command.
Its well implemented in my mesh.

Someone should correct me if I'm wrong but I think that you don't need any group at all to sent a command. The groups are there so the devices know where to send their updates.

I did have issues getting that socket to pair with Domoticz, in fact, im having issues un-pairing them right now too.

Could that be the cause, it didn't fully pair correctly?!

Could be many things. Distance, interference, incomplete inclusion,...
Best, but most radical, option is to exclude/reset/include the device and see what happens then.
