Question 1:
I would like to implement an obstacle detection on an existing roller shutter.
My idea is to use the current consumption measuring to detect the obstacle(unless this function is already implemented in the module). I compare the percent opening+current with the reference current/opening. In case of too large deviation, the shutter stops.
Is this feasible?
What would you recommend for this
- QUBINO "Flush shutter" V2 ZMNHCD1
- Fibaro FGR-222 "Roller Shutter 2"
- Other module
- Change the motor with an obstacle detection motor (for example: Somfy ILMO)

Question 2(almost the same-different situation)
I would like to buy a new roller shutter for another windows.
What do you recommend:
- Standard roller shutter and same Z-Wave module as question 1
- Somfy ILMO motor with obstacle detection(can you give a z-wave module for this?)

I answer myself to my question:
I performed test with FGR222
On my roller shutter motor (Somfy LT50), the power varation are very smal in standard operation:
114W while opening
113W while closing
With an obstacle, the maximum is 114.3 in the domoticz csv recorded values, 120W was seen in the openzwave control panel before the first blade brake.
In my opinion, this method is not directly usable for my roller shutter.
Maybe it is possible with a more robust roller shutter or a higher frequency power analysis(higer than 1per second)

Note 1:
I didn't understand very well the parameter 18 on FGR222: Motor threshold detection
I put 1W on 18 and 1s on parameter 17(turn off time after reaching the limit)
I expected a switch off in case off motor power increase off 1w. I is maybe the motor decrease power to stop or the motor power to stop. Somebody know this in the forum?

Note2:
The power refresh rate is very slow. I can improve that with
Parameter on FGR222:
40-power report=1% of variatytion in power
42-Periodic power or energy report: 1s
Parameter on Razberry:
Poll intervall 1s
With that parameter the refresh rate is slower in domoticz than in openZwave control panel.

Note3:
Another option is maybe to use magnet in the roller shutter blades+Hall sensor+ESP8266
