Animal Deterrent

I started getting foxes in my garden every night ripping rubbish bags open, messing everywhere and tormenting the pet rabbit so I started to look for a deterrent. I’m sceptical about the efficiency of the ultrasonic ones and, besides, didn’t think one practical in case it effected the Rabbit. I did stumble across this item which connects to a hose pipe and fires a garden sprinkler when movement is detected with the PIR and thought that this was a good idea: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battery-Opera ... However, at £40, it is pretty expensive for what it is. I already have PIR sensors around the outside of my house which are connected to Domoticz and used to alert me of any movement if no-one is at home so I thought I could surely utilise these, Domoticz and some other hardware to construct something.
So, I bought a garden sprinkler for £3.49 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130696708392? ... EBIDX%3AIT and a NC electronic solenoid water valve for £7.49 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400566026186? ... EBIDX%3AIT.
I connected my hose to the sprinkler with the valve inline. The valve was then connected to a 12 v supply via a small hole drilled through the wall which was then plugged into a LightwaveRF plug in socket. I already had the 12v transformer and the plug socket.
A simple script was written and now whenever the PIR is triggered and it’s night time the valve opens for 5 seconds setting off the sprinkler which scares the foxes away. Job done for about a tenner and so much fun to watch
