Rechargeable batteries for Fibaro FGMS-001

A year ago, Egregius asked
Didn't know where to post this one, so it went into z-wave.

I have several Fibaro motion and doorsensors.
They all use a CR123A lithium battery.

Has anyone used rechargeable 16340 (RCR123) batteries in them?
Is the 4.2V when fully charged an issue?
What is the expected lifetime compared to normal lithium batteries?
There were no replies, but I'm also interested in these for my FGMS-001s

I've been using these with good result in all my Fibaro motion and smoke sensors:

Not so much luck with the 16XXX types as the ones I tried were slightly too long.

Matt,
Thanks for the info, I didn't know about 3V rechargeables!

P.s. which charger do you use?

Yeah, good question. Does it need a specific charger?

Didn't know that they exist in 3V version. Last year all I found was 3.6 and 3.7V.

Just ordered http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/12186249954 ... EBIDX%3AIT

One of the smoke detectors reports 35% battery so this comes just in time :)

I have the matching charger from Maplin but it looks like it's just been discontinued. If I had to get a new one I'd try something like this one:

Slight thread drift here but I also toyed with the idea of finding a dummy CR123 battery, fitting a 3V step down chip inside and wiring it up to a USB power supply. I don't really need battery powered units everywhere so that would mean a few less batteries to change or charge.

Update -
The bits arrived from Aliexpress today.
The batteries fit the Fibaro exactly.
I'll report later - hopefully much later - on the battery life.
Currently it's showing 100%

Hi,

would like to hear your experiences on battery life with these rechargeable batteries, especially LiFePO4 CR123A 3V (3.2V) versions...:D
