Virtual shared device workaround

Hi guys,
I have a slave RasPi2 with some E3Q Max! heating products connected to it that show up as virtual temp sensors. So far so good.
But... (there's always a but
) as they are virtual devices they will not show up on my master device (CubieTruck).
This is a well reported problem but it probably won't be addressed any time soon as the Devs have bigger fish to fry.
My question (at last
) how would I send a json command from virtual_device_A/Slave to update virtual_device_B/Master?
Would it be possible to write a script that reads the temp of a slave device and sends it to a master device... say every 5 or 15 minutes? If so, where do I start? Any tips?
My Lua Scripting book arrives from Amazon today... another 6 months and I'll maybe quit Blockly
