Noob struggling with relay board

I'm pretty new to Domoticz. I've got temp and motion working on a single node, but I can't seem to get a handle on how to work with relays. I have searched and read a lot, but I think I might be missing something basic.

I have a 2 relay board, connected to a Nano and NRF24L01, running the example sketch from mysensors.org. In Domoticz, I see a node with 3 children. It looks like they are presenting correctly.

Now what? :?

My first goal is to simply learn how to toggle the relay.

Eventually I'd like to use Domoticz to control my home heating. I'll need to switch a relay to do that. ;)

I did find the HVAC thread earlier, but the discussion there already assumed you could control the relays.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm having a lot of fun setting this up. I'm a coder by day, so I'm hoping I might be able to contribute back at some point.

Hi and welcome :D

As your relay is seen by Domoticz (node + child) I assume you are looking at them in the "Hardware" tab. Is anything being shown in the "Devices"? If so, there should be a green "Add device" arrow which should make the device appear in your "Switches" tab... then the fun starts ;)

Good luck

Sean

thanks blackdog

I was able to get it working earlier today. Yes, you are right. I could see them in hardware, but they were not in devices. When I worked on it later, they were there. I was having some radio trouble (lots of st=fail), but I think it was a bad connection as it's just wired together on a bread board. Now it's working pretty well. It's cool being able to turn things off and on with my phone.

You're right, now the fun starts. I'm really interested in these new HVAC functions. I'm still trying to understand how setpoints work.

Who knows, I might actually be able to control the furnace before Winter is over!
