Domoticz App for Windows 10 UWP
Hello All,
I am new to Domoticz and wanted to control Domoticz using "Hey Cortana". "Hey Cortana" is a feature added to Cortana in Windows 10, which allows Cortana to be always on. Since I could not find a Windows 10 App to use with Domoticz I created one for my personal use.
However, it turned out more people were interested in a Windows 10 App, so I decided to upload it to the store, and make it available for free.
I still need to add a lot of features, switch types, sensors and other stuff which is currently available in Domotcz.
Some Details:
Latest Version: 1.1.7.0
Status: Beta (But pretty stable)
Languages: English (Mostly since Cortana is not available in Dutch)
Tested Platforms: Windows 10 64Bit/32Bit, Windows 10 Mobile 32bit emulator, Windows 10 Mobile ARM (Several Lumia phones)
Features: Dashboard, Switches, Sensors, Rooms, Scenes and Groups.
Url: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9NBLGGH5KP6P
Issues:
https://github.com/Sneezydevil/MyHomeAutomation/issues
If you test the app and run into problems or a crash, a report with the following info would be nice:
Platform: Windows 10 64Bit / Windows 10 32Bit / Windows 10 Mobile
Action: What were you doing when the App crashed?

Very Nice
I like this app very much. I shall use it as much as i can en report my findings.
-on my win 10 laptop the rooms-tab doesn't work.
- and sometimes the app crashes at startup.
ik hope i can be at help, unfortunately i am not skilled in programming.

Does the room tab work after pressing the Load Devices button on the Devices tab?
The Crashing on startup I have not seen yet, I will look into it.
//Edit
I added the Github issue list to the Starting Post.
More and more code will be on there aswell, for now its just logo's and language files.

The room tab did work only once after install. I just did a fresh re-install and this time it kept working.
Do you have plans to add buttons for the Utility devices?

Re: Domoticz App for Windows 10 UWP
Utilities and Weather are on my todo list. At the moment I'm doing smaller updates during the week, leaving the bigger stuff for the weekend.
I'm hoping to start with the utilities this weekend.
I only started using domoticz a short while ago so I'm still learning new things every day.
//Edit
Oh and if you any switches you use a lot let me know so I can prioritize better.

At startup crash I didn't notice. The rooms tab functions in my W10 laptop.Aadr wrote:Very Nice

I noticed crashes just by clicking on the menu tabs. I changed the refresh rate to 1 second and crashed more frequently

I hope to have a fix for this soon, not the next release, but probably the release after that.niki_lauda wrote:At startup crash I didn't notice. The rooms tab functions in my W10 laptop.Aadr wrote:Very Nice

The probleem seems to occur when it tries to refresh but is already refreshing. So a refresh rate of 1 will indeed result in a highter change of this happening.
I currently refresh when a page is opened and then whenever the timmer reaches the set limit.
I will let you know when I think I fixed it, its very hard to test on my system even with a refresh rate of 1 since I dont have alot of items in Domoticz yet.

Hi, I install this app on W10 x64 on Onda V820W.
I configure parameters in local LAN , my port is different of 8080, remove SSL and I don't have anything on tab.
My Dz server is on RPi2 with NGNIX.

Just to be sure you pressed the "Load Devices" button on the Devices tab?jackslayter wrote:Hi, I install this app on W10 x64 on Onda V820W.

I currently test the connection to the server when you press that button. I'm planning to add a "Test Connection" button to the Settings page.
If you pressed that button my first guess would be NGINX handling something differently then Domoticz itself. Are you using authentication?

Re: Domoticz App for Windows 10 UWP
Do you have some more information about your setup?
You said you use nginx. What kind of authentication are you using? Only BasicAuth is supported at the moment.
----
On a other note this weekend I will release a new version. I was able to reduce the code base with about 60% while making the app more stable and adding some features. I'm currently stress testing this version. This version might also fix the issue niki_lauda had (I no longer can reproduce the problem).

Re: Domoticz App for Windows 10 UWP
I have been testing some more,
on my desktop with win10-64 and a 35 inch monitor, 9 out of 10 times the app crashes at startup.
on my laptop with win10-64 and a 17 inch screen, it starts up fine. It crashes tho, when I switch fast from categorie to categorie. With a slower pase, it stays ok.
I hope this will help you.

That the size of the window matters is interesting, I test on a 11 Inch Tablet and on a 24 Inch Monitor.Aadr wrote:I have been testing some more,

I'm really curious how the new version (1.1.5.0) will do, on my system its much more stable. I will let you guys know when its available in the store, since it takes almost 20 hours before it in there.

For the people that use a different port then 8080, does the following url work for you if you enter the correct ip and port?
http://ip:port/json.htm?type=devices&filter=all&used=true&order=Name

Would love to figure out what is causing this, the app calls that url and just fills in the ip and port.
