This could perhaps be interesting if your 2nd gen NEST thermostat is not smart anymore:

I am in the same situation, only empty responses {}
On 14th last month google disabled the old (unofficial) endpoints that our 2th gen in most cases used.
The setup flow with device linkage in the api also changed and is broken -- 2th gen is not linked the right way, so still empty responses
If you succeed you also need to visit and check the settings : https://nestservices.google.com/partnerconnections
But i gave up as i was ending in an endless loop. (Support forums are filled with similar cases and google replies only with standard answer templates)

I hacked a kaku door sensor, replaced the reed contact by 2 wires then connected those two wires to https://www.speedcomfort.com/nl/automaticsensor-wit
I placed two of that setup, one on radiator, on heatwater tube. Now i know what CV is doing.
If you want you can measure cv current with a smartplug with energy consumption as extra...

I have an indoor temp/hum sensor, dont need nest for that. The only thing is missing is setting the setpoint, but honestly i rarely used it.
I use this setup to assist cv with heating (by hotair airco), measure gas & water consumpion for hot water and heating.

Nest thermostat is Phase out in EU , i am looking for alternatives : those are all pretty expensive.
(I any one finds a working solution or google fixes its broken api linkage flow, ill be very interested)
