I found the device I'm pinging in my device list but I cannot add it to my switches dashboard, is this correct? And because of that I also cannot see the pinging result history, so I cannot tell if my iPhone is ping-ed correctly.
Remember that an iPhone switches off wifi most of the time the screen is off!!

You should be able to add it to your switches dashboard and use it in LUA as you would use a normal switch.

Strangely enough if I click on the green arrow button nothing is happening. Strange. Any idea's? I've not (yet) rebooted Domoticz, is that required?

I guess it has to do with your Name with the apostrophe. Try removing it, it could be interfering with apostrophes used in the code of Domoticz.
