I really would appreciate if you could expand on this when you have time theolson because I'm sure there will be more then sach and myself waiting to see how you did it, thats really cool.
What i did'nt say was I installed the nest smoke alarm last weekend (as it works as a stand alone) and I looked at it and thought what a waste not being able to use main nest to control my rads, so thanks for the tip, dare I say Christmas might have come early

Thanks theolson. sounds very similar to what I currently do
I would definitely get the Nest, especially since its a freebie. I use Hive for the same purpose.

Just get started and play around with it. The possibilities are endless. There are a lot tech-savvy members who contribute new options. They are great full for the community.
If you have added devices, scripts, blockys. and the system is working and you want to experiment further. Make a backup. So if you are lost you can revert to old state.
Read as many wiki pages if you can. And search for scripts and purposes in the forum.
Everyone was a newbie someday. And if you are stuck you can always ask.
Have fun...

Thanks for the encouragement Justintime and others, its great to see a heathly, helpful forum.
By the way, just bought a DOT from John Lewis for £49, less than a week ago with a view it might someday control the heating
Just seen this if anyone was after one.
http://www.johnlewis.com/amazon-echo-do ... 0515746cc7
Its dropped £5, and needless to say if you wait till the sales it might go down a bit more, but I'll be well miffed if it goes down as low as what it was a few weeks ago, I missed out on that as well
It was £29, for that technology, now thats what I call cheap
