I would like to get a notification from the Tesla API into Domoticz when for example the Tesla is set into the gear to start riding.
When this is possible, I can make a rule in Domoticz that when the Tesla is home and out into the gear (start driving) to open the garage door automatically. Any idea, suggestions on how to do this?

I do not know. But how is this related to the Tesla module in domoticz? 😉 Perhaps it’s related to your router?

Unfortunately this is not possible. The Tesla API is a polling based API. You don’t want to poll every second to overload the system, (besides that, a poll already cost 10 seconds) and 10 second delay for something like this is already too much. Also I don’t think the gear is a setting available in the Tesla api. Unfortunately the Tesla can not send out a command all by itself.

The car is polled every 20 minutes, or every minute when home and charging. The detection of an alert (if possible, I’m not sure) will be extremely late I’m afraid.....

I was more or less afraid of this, thanks for the confirmation. Based on polling this is not really going to work. THanks.

I guess this is about accessing the Domoticz from the display within the Tesla, correct? First question to answer, can you access your Domoticz from the outside world? Have you tested to make a connection from a mobile phone or computer when NOT on the local network. If this doesn't work, then from the Tesla it will for sure also not work. And you also need to look into SSL type certificates and connections, I guess Tesla is checking on a valid certificate when making a connection to a server like Domoticz.

I will try it from my Tesla in the next couple of days or so. Will let you know the outcome.

Yes, I am trying to access it from display within Tesla.
I am already using my domoticz instance from internet with a domain and a correct SSL (let's encrypt) certificate....

I tried it today, Tesla connected to my local network. Typed in the local IP address of my Domoticz server and nothing was displayed on screen. I guess Tesla is blocking a lot of things like Javascript etc. Only alternative way is work with fixed URL’s and/or build you own web-page.

Top my knowledge Tesla builds a VPN to the Tesla network and then goto the internet. So you can only access the domoticz from a public ipaddress.

Hi there
I’m new to the Tesla function and I can’t get the home location working. I cannot see the location reported by the Tesla in the logs, so unable to align the values with Domoticz settings.
Is there a deeper level of logging I can access please?

I’m on a recent NAS synology build

Regards

Tim

To see the location, you need to enable debug logging mode in the settings.

Hi. Thanks for reply

I got the following from debug:

{"gps_as_of":1607864476,"heading":261,"latitude":5x.xxx,"longitude":-0.xxx,"native_latitude":51.xxx,"native_location_supported":1,"native_longitude":-0.xxxx,"native_type":"wgs","power":0,"shift_state":null,"speed":null,"timestamp":1607866064846},"gui_settings":

And then changed my Domoticz location to xxxx Does it need closer accuracy than this, because it’s still reporting “not at home” in Domoticz.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Yea you need to use all digits! What you put in still has a range of 400-500 meters.

I make a script for a short car home detection, because when the car is home I want to save energy.
And when the car isn't home, I log it because his always wake up (sentry, drive ...)

Code: Select all

commandArray = {}
if (devicechanged['Tesla Ping'] == 'Off') then
	commandArray['OpenURL'] ='http://127.0.0.1:8084/json.htm?type=command&param=updatehardware&htype=120&username=[username]&password=[password]'&name=Tesla&enabled=true&idx=18&datatimeout=0&extra=[VIN]&Mode1=5&Mode2=5&Mode3=1 AFTER 1'
elseif devicechanged['Tesla Ping'] == 'On' then
	commandArray['OpenURL'] ='http://127.0.0.1:8084/json.htm?type=command&param=updatehardware&htype=120&username=[username]&password=[password]'&name=Tesla&enabled=true&idx=18&datatimeout=0&extra=[VIN]&Mode1=60&Mode2=5&Mode3=0 AFTER 1'
end
return commandArray
Perhaps you can and a default interval for each car status (home, not home, charging ...) ?

Can you help me how to update an oder version of this module? I can't find the original installation instruction and no instruction to update an existing one?

Also I have an feature request: Perhaps you can implement an counter for the car status (awake or not) to see, how long and at which time the car sleeps.

Thanks
