[Choice for domoticz:] Not commited, but I like the approach of using Lua to handle events (even if not yet optimal). Also, flexibility to customize front-end (floorplan, anybody?)
[My role here:] Generally want to experiment with Domoticz and contribute where I can and in so far as I have free time. Think along the lines of: programming lua, web front-end, possibly back-end.
[Equipment:] Raspberry Pi, QNAP NAS, Home Theater stuff, the rest to be decided upon

[Experience] Digital & Analogue circuit design, Low Power RF data comms, Plant Control/PLC/SCADA, Corporate IT Systems, CRM Systems, Data Security and Data Centre Management
[My Equipment] Wintel PC’s/Servers, Mac, Cat7 wired GB ethernet, Arduino, RPi, Intel Galileo, home made interfaces, RFXCOM, Home Easy Switches, Owl Energy Monitor
[My Role Here] Learn enough to be able to control my home build interfaces through Domoticz then create WIKI’s to help other newbies like me
[Choice for Rpi/Domoticz] I live in a 100yr old cottage with outbuildings and a large garden, I need to monitor movement sensors, control external lighting, electric gates, 2 heating systems and alarm/intruder sensors. I need a flexible, distributed (2 buildings), very low power system which has built in decision making logic, seamless integration with different equipment providers, logging and a browser interface so RPi and Domoticz seems Ideal!

My current project is a RPi interface using a HumblePi PCB and 2 MCP23017 chips providing 32 Digital I/O and driving an LCD from Python - ideally talking to Domoticz through the SPI

I bought a zipabox and because it is buggy and not very flexible and open I finally wrote all my use case through home made script using their API and then since I only using API why not asomething more open ...

I have refurbished my house and put some Somfy Blinds.
I was looking to automate them since a while at cheap price... then I found the RFXdevice that allowed me to do it. and the easiest way was to do it with Raspberry PI and DOmoticz at my sense.
Then What I want to do is to build an alarm (when my dog is not at home..) ...

Domoticz was the simplest solution at my eyes to do it.
[My role here?]
Have some information.
Share experience.
Do Testing
Ask question for my next projects (Alarm)
And do coding if needed (depending on the language used, and also help in translation...)
Domocticz latest Beta
Raspberry Pi (B)
RFXtrx433E USB
Access via OpenVPN & dnsdynamic.org
13 Somfy RTS Blinds
To Come (Looking and searching what to take all wireless)
**Plug for Light Presence
**Alarm

[Choice for domoticz:] I like domoticz because of the active development, new bells and whistles being added almost daily, and because it communicates with the widest variety of devices, wired and wireless. I have two systems, one in the house and one in the garden office, that talk to each other. The house system uses the RFXTRX433 to control door sensors, motion sensors, lights, cameras, temperature sensors, doorbell, smoke alarm and burglar alarm. The office system uses a Z-Wave USB stick and PiFace to control door sensors, motion sensors, cameras, lights, heating, wind sensor, rain sensor, burglar alarm, exhaust fan, flood lights, etc. The office system is solar powered, completely off-grid. I am trying to figure out how to measure voltage and amperage. And I'm looking forward to getting the new RFXTRXE-433 so I can control the new powered blinds I've ordered! Great project, keep up the good work!

[Hobbies:] IT in general, My homelab, Cars, Motorcycles, Sailing and now some home automation =D
[Choise for domoticz:] Prefer open source solutions to play around with. Ended up with domoticz vs openHAB and went domotics because it's in C instead of java and the community seems much more vibrant. I got a Aeon Labs S2 Z-wave stick and the RFXtrxE. Running on a VMware VM with 1GB RAM using Debian 7. VM runs in HA mode on a VMware cluster based on 2x HP Microserver G8, both with Xeon E3-1220v2 cpu's and 16GB ECC DDR3. Storage through iSCSI from a HP microserver N40L based SAN (omniOS) and using SSD caching in vmware. Thought about getting a raspberry but I have this running anyway so I went with total overkill :+
[My role here?] Not really that much of a programmer, but I'll contribute wherever I can sharing knowledge, providing feedback, let's see what happens.

[Choise for Domoticz:] Not sure yet. It looks very promising, but I do not have a lot of experience. I have a small system build around KAKU/COCO, but I believe for some purposes a handshake is required. Ik hope Z-Wave can provide that.
[My role here:] Not much for now. First I have to understand whats going on. So, forgive me asking 'stupid' questions.
Set 1= RPI 3B, latest Beta, RFLink USB, RFLINK WIFI, Zwave
Set 2= RPI 2B, Latest Beta, OTGW (USB), SBFSpot (Bluetooth)

Wanted a free and open source home automation software.
I chose domoticz because of the active comunity, fast update and development cycle, and decent interface.
[My role here?] I would love to help others out as I go along. I also like to design and build hardware. I would love to share some guides and such on what I build so others may enjoy it too.

Been using Fibaro Home Center 2 for a year, grew tired of feature promises that never happened and looked into the open source world.
Tried OpenHab at first, but was to un-intuitive with all configuration file editing. Still waiting for my z-wave stick but Domoticz is up and
running and working nicely.
