looking for an input module (for reading wallswitch pushbuttons) to be hooked up to LAN for controlling devices in Domoticz
... so a bit similar as an 8266, but not Wifi ... rather LAN connected
... been googeling for days now, but no clear answer
anyone out there that knows/uses something like this ?
LAN (wired) alternative for 8266

intercepting a push button would be not so simple...
first of all it is supposed to have AC in it... so you should have to replace the button with something able to switch both AC and a dry contact for signaling to domoticz (they should, but I'm not sure this kind of button exist)
Otherwise...
you can use the same AC on the button to activate a relay that will send the digital signal to an arduino nano (usb) or streight to the Domoticz raspberry GPIO

The most dangerous phrase in any language is:
"We always done this way"

Re: LAN (wired) alternative for 8266
I don't have AC on them, I have them connected to Zwave RGBW dimmers now, but I want them to come into Domoticz indepentently ...
arduino nano is USB, I would like to use LAN

Re: LAN (wired) alternative for 8266
There are several ethernet modules for Arduino boards, I use them a lot.
Best advice is to use a W5100 ethernet module and not the enc28j60.
It is pretty simple to connect a (voltage free) switch to an Arduino and send the status to Domoticz via the LAN interface.
You could also check MySensors, I believe they also have a wired gateway.

Re: LAN (wired) alternative for 8266
yes, but the shield alone costs $5.00+ (in China)
+ the adruino (between $5.00 and $10.00 in China)...
ESP 8266 costs less than $2.00
see the difference ?
