OpenZwave performance on RPI

Post by nizaga »

Hello,

I have a general question, is domoticz openzwave network performance better on RPI3 than RP2?

Any experience comparing RPI with other HW for zwave network performance?

Thanks,

Not really sure about what you really mean with "performances" but in my opinion and experience... I think there are no essential differences...
I'm using a Gen5 USB Stick witch is a USB2 device... so I assume the maximun reachable speed will be the USB2 limit....
Moving to RBPi3 will not make such difference.... in terms of speed...

At least.. the main difference would be on all the operations made by the OS and the application: scripting, DB, fetching datas... etc etc...

but... I repeat.. this is my personal opinion :P

Zwave network speed is 40000 baud wich is only 4000Kbps. USB2 is already 480Mbps so don't think it will make any change.
As Emme states, the rest of the system could do more for the performance.
Altough I once tested with all the domoticz files including database and everything on a tmpfs system and it didn't change anything more than 1 millisecond. So not wirth the extra troubles that come with that.

Maybe it's not a direct answer for your question, but once I moved from 2A common phone charger to MeanWell 10A PSU I experienced that "zwave performance" increased slightly. So please check your power supply. I know 10A is a lot but I power other devices (two raspberry, mysensor gw, rflink, lcd, network switch, relay board and so on) with one big PSU as well
HW: HP dc7900 USD running ESXi, RaspberryPi (few of it), AEON S2 USB stick, Fibaro modules (Dimmers, switches), 1-wire (DS18B20, DS2423), DSC Alarm with Envisalink ethernet module, MySensors, RFLink
