Serial port not showing USB port

Post by FritsK »

Hi there,

I'm new here, so let me introduce myself first. I'm FritsK, live in the Netherlands and I'm rather new to Domoticz. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 2B for several years now as a Logitech media server. Looking for a new Raspberry project I found Domoticz. I've got several KAKU-switches which I want to control first before I'm going to connect Domoticz to API's, my weatherstation etc... Start small, end big. ;)

I've just recieved my new RFLink Transciever together with a new Raspberry Pi 3. I installed the image of Domoticz on a SD card (class 10) following the SD Image installation wiki, soldered the RFLink and followed the step by step RFLink installation proces. So far, so good (I think).

The Pi is connected to a 5V 3A wall wart, the Arduino via USB to one of the Pi's USB ports. I installed the Pi using a keyboard, but after reboot I connect using Putty.

When I connect to Domoticz, the system asks me to add Hardware. I select "RFLink Gateway USB" etc.. But when I want to select an USB port at "Serial port", none is showing up. There are only 2 options to choose from:
  • /dev/ttyACM0
  • /dev/ttyAMA0
Adding the RFLink with any of the above doesn't show any devices in the device list. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance!

I would check the rflink first with the RF link loader. (On a windows pc).
If you see data incoming when you press a switch then you know your rflink is working.
If that is ok you can use syslog on your PI to check what port the rflink is using.

Hi Henk,

Thanks for your reply. After trying several things, I managed to get it working by selecting "/dev/ttyACM0" as the port and reboot the Pi.

Your solution could be great for users that aren't able to run the RFLink properly when selecting either of the ports.

Kinds regards,
