Please consider supporting the Matrix Creator add-on radio and sensor shield for Raspberry Pi 40 pins expansion connector as a reference platform for Domoticz.

Reason for this is that it 'only' cost $99 and for what is an all-in-one board IoT which includes 802.15.4-compliant short-range wireless radio for ZigBee and Thread, Z-Wave chip from Sigma Designs, plus a IR RX/TX remote receiver/transmitter, as well as featuring NFC reader support, and having a microphone array (for always-on listening similar to Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers), plus having several integrated sensors as; temperature sensor, pressure sensor, ultraviolet sensor, humidity sensor, 3D Accelerometer, 3D Gyroscope, and 3D Magnetometer. The integrated lights also acts as light for camera connected to Raspberry Pi. Matrix Creator IoT radio and IR transiever plus sensor board from Matrix Labs (formerly AdMobilize), runs "Matrix OS" framework for Raspbian Linux on Raspberry Pi.

It does not support 315/433MHz so it does not compete with RFLink, but they would be excellent complements to each other so together you would get a much broader range of support and features for home automation.

And I think that for me they answer the about regarding "Why should I buy this shield for Raspberry Pi?" pretty well on their website: "Save Money - MATRIX Creator replaces plenty of hardware you would normally use in thousands of custom hardware applications. Eliminate the bulk of your wiring and simplify packaging."

PS: I have absolutly no affiliations with the makers of this or related products or any resellers of it. I am only a Domoticz end-user looking to move away from my current 433MHz setup to something more modern like Z-Wave, however I thought it would be great if I don't have to buy a single-use hardware dongle that limited to Z-Wave but instead have buy something like this Matrix board which supports so many protocols on one single board, and for not that high price.

Well I ordered one and it just got here about 5 min ago. I'll have to see if I can get it working with anything, though I'm not a developer.
