Tablet + Domoticz

Post by juankar »

Hi
Has anybody installed Domotiz in a Linux Tablet?
I think it would be a good idea to run domotic in such device, don't it?

Why would that be so good? Tablet mostly go to sleep, but I never had a Linux tablet so could be wrong about that.
And then a USB cable with a hub to connect everything?
You want your Domoticz running after a wifi connection?
I think you're better off buying a RPI and just use the tablet to control it.

Well, but with a tablet you have a enough powerful processor plus a touchscreen, all in one device.

I do it on a chroot debian running on Android.

That rock's well.

Only problème is about USB, rflink was hère but rfxcom not.

Need some tweak to run mydomoathome service to run imperihome.

This a way to get A full system in one pièce.

Tablet is an Acer A1 810.

I plan to repeat the same but on a windows one : Pipo x9s

Domoticz + Sarah voice reconizion, face reconizion, gesture and qrcode, + windows tts + kinect as mic + cam.

I really do not understand the point.
Most people run Domoticz on either RPi or an HDD running linux. Some on Windows.
Why would you need to run it on a tablet?
- No access to GPIO
- Dependence on the battery life
- Dependence on the Wifi signal
- How would you hook up Zwave / rfxcom? I have three transceivers connected to My RPi, How do I connect them to a tablet?

You can control Domoticz on RPi with a tablet - that's fine.

Why is neccsary Access to GPIO?
Tablet can be connected to electricity or can use battery, as RPI
Dependence on the Wifi signal? Why?
USB, if you use a hub... but yes, tis can be a problema for people using differents technology.

I see a tablet as a RPI or Cubie plus a touch Screen. This is the reason of the question.

You can still use your rpi as a ser2net server (who share serial USB via lan).

Rpi healt is dépendante to sdcard, rpi is a dev board.

If you plan to made a contrôle screen, a tablet is a good solution, maybe you will prefer the 7" rpi screen ? (This need GPIO !)k

No zwave at home all work with 433 or wifi module.

I use my Wetab tablet PC for Domoticz, purely because because it was collecting dust. There is no real advantage in using a tablet, Ican say after a year. After installing Ubuntu I used remote access with SSH.
One could use the tablet wall-mounted for displaying a Frontpage, or the standard Domoticz webpage, but a connected Rfxcom has to mounted alongside it as well. Not acceptable for my wife....
