RFXtrx433 not receiving
Hello,
Is anyone seeing issues with their RFXtrx's? Yesterday morning at about 1am both of mine stopped receiving information from my sensors.
I have a RFXtrx433 and a RFXtrx433E. Both of these are connected to a Windows computer that runs Domoticz. The devices are in separate rooms with one directly connected to the computer and the other connected by a Belkin Network USB Hub (other devices connected to this are working).
I have stopped Domoticz and ran RFXmngr and it can see both devices and what their settings are but I see no devices sending information. I have tried the RFXtrx433 in another computer with RFXmngr and get the same results.
I have flashed them both with the latest Type1 Firmware and have the same results.
I have emailed their support and will see what they say but wondered if anyone else is seeing something like this - its very odd that they both stopped at the same time and wont work in another system - its almost like a certificate has expired or something similar.....
Thanks,
Rob

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
If both stopped at the same moment it is not expected to be an error in both RFXtrx at the same time.
Also if it operates before it is not expected to be a firmware problem.
It is most probably an RF noise source that transmits constantly so that a receiver cannot receive any valid packet anymore.
Another reason could be a lightning strike very close to the receivers.
To be sure, test the RFXtrx on another location far from the current location using RFXmngr on a Windows system or laptop.
Test with a remote or sensor (not the bad sensor) to see if the RFXtrx receives this device.
In most cases we have seen this problem created by an X10 MS13 motion sensor with an almost empty battery. Or a weather sensor with almost empty battery or the sensor filled with water.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
So some sensors started to report back but not many. I have about 20 sensors in all. There is no X10 in the house, I removed that a while back. No lightning here lately. I have changed the batteries in the Wind and Rain sensors.
I have slowly been turning things off 1 by 1 to try and find what's doing it, things got better when I removed a Siemens 433MHz plug socket but they are still not as they were before.
I will keep trying to see what is interfering as it appears to be more than one thing.

Did you test the RFXtrx433 already at another location far away from the current location? (> 1km)

No, not had a chance to yet. Other than my wind sensor things seem to be back to normal.

UPDATE
---------
After reconnecting to my PC and restarting RFXmgr, it's now receiving OK!
I am having the same problem of not receiving anything.
It's now connected to RFXmngr, but nothing is being logged.
The "Set mode" and "Get status" buttons do not get any data after the initial connection.

This seems not to be a Domoticz problem!

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
Perhaps I should have mentioned that RFXmngr eventually started to receive, but Domoticz does not, even after several restarts.
Nor does the protocol status get listed when the RFXCOM hardware is started in Domoticz.
I seee "RFXCOM: Using serial port: /dev/ttyUSBx" but no further RFX messages.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
This is strange because mine stopped receiving a couple of days ago too. I suspected there was a problem with the actual hardware as the 'rec' light does not illuminate when I press my LightwaveRF mood controllers now.
It does however receive temp and humidity information from the Oregon Scientific sensors I have, and also can transmit all signals perfectly. Is this a coincidence with us both?
I tried updating the firmware and this has not helped.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
Did the problem occur after a firmware or Domoticz update?
Please connect the RFXtrx433 to a Windows system and check with RFXmngr if you receive LWRF remotes. Test first with only the LigtwaveRF protocol enabled.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
I had already updated to 1005.
It does transmit OK, but receives nothing.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
I have tried to install the rfxcom433 with no luck.
Adding hardware goes fine. devices shows up on the right ttyUSB1.
When I want to change mode, add tickboxes it never saves it. nomatter what I am doing anything when I return all ticks are gone.
when adding a switch, adding goes fine. but no response whatsoever of the switch itself.
using the windows tool is going well.
Anyone any idea what is going on here? I have rebooted twice. took the rfx out, in, out...

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
My problem was fixed yesterday, I updated the firmware on the RFXtrx433 and then replaced batteries in all my X10 sensors. This has solved my issue.

Re: RFXtrx433 not receiving
I had some issues with my Domoticz and the RFXcom last weeks. My RFXcom would not send any commands anymore.
with my settup is had something to do with Virtualbox.
But after a reinstall on a PI 3B it is working again.
Check also on your RFXcom it is not in bootloader mode. the red LED is on constandly.
This prevents the RFXcom from setting the diffrent modes.
