How does push work

Post by Erikswed »

Hello everybody
Just saw this today and try to understand how does work. Using Domoticz on a raspberry pie inside an RV mobile home, how can my android phone get push notification from the the raspberry? Where is the server that the android phone connect to?

I read the forum and the wiki page but can't quite find the description for this how it works

Was thinking about nma vs gcm. Does this mean that i cannot use Domoticz in the RV home if i don't also use NMA? The RV has internet connection through mobile phone operator.

I still don't understand how incoming outgoing communication is able to happen since there is no way to connect to a mobile phone. The IP address for the mobile phone is not accessible. Where is the relay server?

I understand that NMA has its own server. Does the Domoticz backend also use the NMA server?

Yes, when we need to send a 'notification', like 'Temperature above 27.0 degrees', we deliver this message to the NMA server on the internet.
On the Android phone, you need to install NMA (i think you have to pay 1 time, 2 euro ?), the NMA server (from the internet) pushes this message to the NMA application on your phone

Is it possible to use several api´s for notification? I want to use pushbullet and if for example some plant needs watering I want to send a notification to both me and my girlfriend? Or is there some other way to get around that? (I tried creating a new channel in pushbullet and so we both could subscribe to that channel, but then i realized that I cant send from domotics to that channel.)
