Fire start with RF Wall Plug

Post by deennoo »

Hi all,

This is not about Domoticz but with one of his accessory.

I get lot of RF Plug (Phénix, blyss, rising sun, home confort) and wifi relay (Sonoff).

I use to made some "test" and lot works at home on DIY, MySensors, ESPEasy, Hyperion.

This morning got a firestart with one of my Phenix RF Plug, one of thé first i ever use, she was driving a simple 20w light, but this morning only plug light up.

Nothing happen to home and my familly but, keep in mind that if this happen to a manufactured product with CE certification, it can arrive to a DIY who drive mains.

One thing to remember is not all certifications are equal! It is very easy to create false lables and certificates so always be on the lookout for poor imitations. If in doubt get a qualified electrician to check it out.
New user to Domoticz - Love the software but hard going with learning all the inside bits!

This can happen to everything that's connected to electricity.
Had it recently with a quite decent extension cord. Both wall socket and plug melted down because of bad internal connection.

Anything of any quality can (and will) fail at some point.
Someone could buy a crappy no name budget car and someone else could buy a Rolls Royce, yet either one could develop a fault.
Something of "lower" quality is more likely to fail, but just because something is not a known brand doesn't mean it is lower quality

Had the same thing last year coming back from holidays the power supply of my Cisco cable modem died leaving the smell of burned electronics all over the house. The PSU also had a CE mark, but was manufactured in China. So CE marking is no garantee this will not happen, it needs just one bad component.

CE sometimes also means China Export.
But i would agree that electricity is not only helpful but the same time dangerous. Same with water,...
