I would like to "edit switch" and enter the power consumption (W) on the switch. Then a timer/counter that calculates kwh used for that switch.
E.g. a switch with configured 1500W power consumption that's been on for 24h: 1500w x 24h = 36kwh
I agree with you for some of the devices. But for example heating devices, it would be pretty accurate to input power and also maybe average voltage. It will of course not be 100% accurate as the voltage varies, and resistance in the heating devices a bit lower when its cold. It would also work pretty good on light bulbs that's not dimable.
The reason I'm requesting this, is that I used to use switch king as GUI where this function was implemented.
I used it on my Jacuzzi's heating element and circulation pump. Calculated power consumption was more or less the same as my "power meter" for that circuit in my power-cabinet.
I really do like that idea. Having the power consumption straight visual on the device switch! Now it's needed to switch between screens to know what consumption a dimmed lamp is using. I was thinking to make this in my frontpage as well.
I'd like to see this implemented as well, it's how other GUI have it displayed such as Vera and Fibaro...
Plus there's no - apparent - way to link a "device" to its corresponding "power consumption device" if that makes sense
